Teaching Philosophy

Guitar students learn the following skills: Note reading, reading chords charts, strumming patterns, reading off lead sheets, sight reading, all major and minor sales as well as modes, improvisation, theory as it applies to the instrument, proper technique, performance skills and playing by ear. I typically do not teach using tablature. There are textbooks that students use depending on their age and skill level, plus I have numerous handouts.

Piano students learn the following skills: Note reading, reading off lead sheets, sight reading, all major and minor sales, theory as it applies to the instrument, proper technique, performance skills. There are several textbooks that piano students use depending on their skill level.

Types of Lessons

I teach general beginning guitar to persons from age 6 and up. I also teach beginning through advance Classical, Flamenco, Rock, and Funk/R&B guitar. I also teach beginning through advance electric bass guitar as well as songwriting and beginning piano. All lessons are private. Students must have their own instrument. I do not sell or rent instruments.

Payment

Payment for the month is due at the first lesson of each month. If you do not present your payment at the first lesson for the month a $10.00 late fee will be assessed. Students pay by the month for the month. Lessons are offered in 30-minute, 45-minute and a 1-hour, blocks once a week. There are no long-term contracts.

Method of Payment

I accept cash and US Silver Eagle Coins.   Gift Certificates are available upon request.

Practice Policy

To see results from private studies you should spend a minimum of a 1/2hour per day practicing if your lesson is a 1/2hour per week. If your lesson is an hour per week your practice time should be a minimum of an hour per day. No excuses you have 24 hours in a day if you really want to learn how to play your instrument you will prioritize and find the time.

Cancellation Policy

Twenty-four hours notice must be given for all cancellations, or you will be charged. Credits are not applied to another month. All paid lessons missed must be re-scheduled.

Canceling Lessons

If you wish to stop studying with me please extend the courtesy of a phone call. If you have two no calls and no shows in a 30 day period I will fill your time slot should the opportunity arise.

Disclaimer

I am a working professional musician and film and television actress and may from time to time have to reschedule lessons due to a performance or audition.

Holidays

I do not teach on the following holidays: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day, Thanksgiving Day, Fourth of July, Memorial Day, and Labor Day.

I sell my Cd's to all my students for only $15.00

Sheet Music prices vary from $3.00 to 5.00.
